Our Thunderbirds hockey teams had the pleasure of an invitational open skate and meet and greet with Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty on Sunday January 13. Premier dropped the puck for 3 divisional ice sessions and took time for photo opportunities with players and parents.

Trade Mission group led by McGuinty met with the Canadian Ambassador to China Mr. Zhao Pu and Consul-General in Shanghai Mr. Shang RuiKai (Rick Savone) in Shanghai. This is their fourth visit to China. Then, it followed by McGuinty talks with more than 50 members as a start of their week-long busy itinerary. The commerce group is led by 38 companies, universities, and other members of the agency, the Ontario Tourism Minister Mr. Chen GuoZhi and the Director of the Office of Economic Development and Innovation of Ontario Mr. Du Jie.

McGuinty said the delegation will bring new investment and create thousands of jobs for Ontario, he will help Ontario by opening the door to enter the Chinese market.

Before talks with ambassadors and consul general in Shanghai, Premier Dalton McGuinty visited the Shanghai Thunderbirds hockey club. This hockey club have players from the age of 7 years old to 17-year-old children, many of them are children of Canadian businessman residing in China. McGuinty put on skates and skated with them and dropped the puck to kick off a game and receive the team's No. 1 jersey printed McGuinty names.

Thunderbirds ice hockey team is a non-profit, all the staff are volunteers, some of the coaches and management personnel are from Ontario. The U10 team manager Corina Matts introduced The team currently has 78 youth players, divided into three age groups, the Shanghai local, European countries and North America players one-third each. Many children are from Toronto with working parents in Shanghai, such as the 12-year-old Toronto Junior Ceolin have lived for nine years in Shanghai.

Young players was extremely excited about McGuinty's visit, percussion hockey sticks is ice hockey’s unique way to welcome the governor from home. Team president Kevin said, hockey is one of Canada's most popular sport, hockey united different people together too, especially the governor and the kids play hockey together, we will let them feel more interesting.
The first two days of the delegation trip will then visit Shanghai, Nanjing, Chengdu and Beijing.
